DNA and Protein Sequence Analysis Software
MacVector
A full featured molecular biology program for Macintosh computers. Includes integrated access to ENTREZ and BLAST over the
Internet. Current version is 7.2 - supports Mac OS X.
DS Gene
A full featured molecular biology program for Windows computers, including Windows XP. (A Windows clone of MacVector).
We have a training video for DS Gene, download it here: DSgene.zip
Sequencher
A DNA sequence assembly program and multiple alignment editor. Includes a viewer for trace files (electropherograms) from
automated sequencers and the ability to visually align and edit overlaps from these traces to produce optimal consensus
sequences from multiple reads. New versions are available for both Macintosh OSX and Windows XP computers.
SeqWeb
GCG (the Wisconsin Sequence Analysis Packacge) is the primary
DNA and protein sequence analysis tool provided by the RCR to the NYU research community.
GCG is an integrated suite of bioinformatics tools which covers a wide range of scientific interests,
including sequence entry and fragment assembly, mapping, database searching, multiple sequence alignment and
evolutionary analysis, pairwise comparison, gene finding, DNA/RNA and protein secondary structure,
translation, and display. GCG can be used from any computer in the Medical Center via a telnet command line login,
X-windows (SeqLab), or from a Web browser (SeqWeb).
